GPS coordinates : take off : 32°43'34" (32.7263)N; 17°8'5" (17.1348)W - Elevation : 818 m.
landing : 32°42'5" (32.7014)N; 17°8'12" (17.1369)W - Elevation : 14 m.
Take off : The best takeoff in Madeira Island for XC-Flights. Many of the local competitions are held there due to its frequent good flying conditions all year round.

Frequent meeting point to local pilots. Foreign pilots welcome.

Gentle, wide and long slope.

Not in the rotor, without cranes nearby, also cactus free and without buildings.
Landing : At the beach in Madalena do Mar.

Sand beach in Calheta only allowed when the beach is not crowded.
Going there : From Funchal get the freeway, go west until the exit to Arco da Calheta just after Madalena do Mar beach, the up to Loreto, then Rochao.
Comments : This takeoff is free of charge but it's private please always contact www.voolivremadeira.com before flying at this takeoff.

Barbeque, Tables and Benches available nearby free to use.
Weather hazards : Pay atention to back wind coming in, and the cloud base can sometimes be just above the takeoff.
Flight regulation : You always need a valid pilot licence and insurance.
